The most commonly asked question is ‘does it hurt?’ The answer is: if you are wearing sensible clothing – a thick jacket, thick jumper or coveralls then NO!! Close range shots do hurt and cause a bruise but most siutes tailor games to reduce the instances of close range shots therefore reducing the chances of bruises etc. Safety is paramount on all paintball sites. On arrival at the site you will be issued with a safety mask, specifically designed for paintball, coveralls to protect your clothes, battlepacks, for carrying paintballs, shot pots, hopper and a tippman 98 semi automatic paintball gun. A comprehensive safety briefing will be given at the start of the day before any player is allowed to touch a gun or start the days play. This briefing should highlight the rules of paintball. The second most common question is ‘How much does it cost and where can I play?” Most sites have a basic charge which includes safety equipment, overalls and the use of a paintball gun and with some sites lunch and refreshments. All sites will be able to tailor a package for your company or group of friends from about £20 Packages can be arranged to include a quantity of paintballs and extras like breakfast, barbeques, use of conference facilities and even other activities such as clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, off road driving, go karting, laser games, team building activities and team training. What do I need to wear? How long does it last? Packages can be arranged from 2 hours to a full day and with the advent of purpose built floodlit arenas and indoor sites, paintball can be played during the evening. In practical terms, you will need a change of clothing in case you decide to crawl in the mud or if it rains, and sensible footwear.

The most important thing to take with you to any activity experience, especially extreme sports or adrenalin activities like paintball, is a sense of humour and a willingness to get stuck in and possibly make a fool of yourself!!

Paintball is an ideal way to generate team spirit, develop leadership skills and most paintball arenas now offer paintballing as part of corporate entertainment, corporate team building and management development courses. The game is also a way to develop inter departmental rivalry, pub challenges, sports competitions and company challenges. Most fields will organise tournaments or tourneys for companies.
