Only if you get hit. Even then not always. Best thing to do is wear heavy loose clothing to absorb the impact. Take a pair of gloves as well. Shots to the fingers sting really bad. Also, never ever remove your mask when in a game. Most people like to keep their eyes intact.
No. There are in the region of 150 venues in the UK, and I have close to half of them listed. If you cannot find a local venue on this site, you can try looking in the Yellow Pages under 'Corporate Entertainment' and 'Outdoor Activities'. Almost all paintball venues advertise under these sections. If you can't find one there, then you probably don't have a local venue. If you find a venue not listed, please point them in my direction. I am having real trouble finding all of them.
No. Venues can supply all the equipment you need. If you are going to play regularly I would recommend getting your own camo gear and mask, as in general the camo gear supplied is one size fits all. More of a comfort thing than a necessity. Also not all venues will supply you with an anti-mist mask (you will sweat like a pig and your mask can become completely opaque). If you do not own a pair, I would recommend getting a good pair of boots. Paintball venues can be muddy all year round, and trainers give crappy ankle support.
In general, I would say no unless you are entering competitions or going to a lot of walk-on days. These are the only times most venues will allow you to use your own guns. Some will allow you to use your gun all the time, but they will have to be checked in advance, and you will probably have to let them know when you book. Ask your local venue before purchasing.
Well, paintball is a military based game, so military tactics are best. If you are really that desperate to win, join the army for a couple of years. If not, best advice I can give is always take cover, don't just run at the opposition hoping they will miss and don't hold back when shooting at people. It is war!! Also, don't be afraid of mud. Get on the ground and crawl about. You are less likely to be hit, and if you are hit it generally hurts less as it is a glancing blow. If you have a good team who aren't likely to friendly fire you, use the covering formation, so half the group lays down covering fire while the other half advances to a safe position. Works very well.
